It was the first league date since the Stiga US Open as the LTHL marked
Week 4 of the six-week summer season. There were 8 players at Vito and
Nick's Pizzeria in Lemont. Not many were bowling at the lanes on this
summer Sunday (Aug. 24), but the pucks were flying into the net.
Two-time US Open champ Rob Chargo played and lost only one game all
day. Finishing second was Jeff Thill and third was Eric Krol. It was a
tight finish for third through fifth. John Medema came in fourth and
Jim Rzonca, tired from some grueling Coleco s-slot before the Stiga
action started, was fifth. The middle of the league displayed some
parity as guys traded wins and losses in a triple round robin. Roger
Carlson was a nice addition with softball season temporarily over and
Derek Rykiel, a Thill cousin, followed up his US Open B Pool showing by
returning to league play.
