The LTHL took to the Stigas fresh off a Las Vegas tournament at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. A pretty good turnout with 10 players, including newcomers Eric Davis and Ryan Anderson. They drove down together from the Rockford area, maybe 90 minutes to two hours away. Vegas champion Rob Chargo was in the house, and dominated as usual. He lost 5-1 to Jim Rzonca and had two ties. He only missed four out of a possible 36 points. It was a dogfight for second after the first round robin, and Jim Rzonca came back to take it. He tied third-place finisher Eric Krol by a 4-4 tally each time. Playing spoiler was Rich Thill, the Garbageman. In the second round robin, the eldest Thill defeated both Joe Salazar (3-2) and then in the final game, John Medema (1-0). Thill had a 5-3-1 second round, almost surely his best Stiga round ever. Davis did pretty well for a first-timer, winning four games and tying two, including a 0-0 tie in the opener vs. his friend Ryan Anderson. We were happy to see Peter Basdeckis return from injury and Jerry Miller Sr. was back in the house too. We're targeting Saturday, March 22 for the next league night, but check the web site for details.
