Garry "Da Bomber" Butler made a surprise appearance.
Week 6 Report
By Eric Krol
Table hockey truly was secondary on this night as Garry Butler
walked through the door before the evening's games began. Da Bomber was
a very unexpected guest, since he had major surgery to remove a kidney
less than two weeks earlier. Garry brought everyone up-to-date on his
health: his surgery was successful, he's undergoing some more tests to
see whether the cancer is completely gone, he's lost about 20 pounds,
and he gets tired quickly, as you might expect. He was thankful for the
40 or so phone calls he got from table hockey players while waiting to
be operated on. He says everyone's prayers and his own faith in God are
what's helping him through this. Then he stayed to watch a couple of
games and went back home with his wife, Candy, and son, Brett.
After seeing that, the table hockey almost didn't matter. Thanks to
Russ Leonard, a Chexx player from Plainfield, for coming out for the
first time. Hope to see you again. Full results are down below.
Three Stars of the night
1. Garry Butler: makes triumphant appearance.
2. Rob Chargo: takes first again.
3. Ron Marsik: showed tenacity in 2nd place tiebreaker.
