Week 2 Report

We had a great pre-Christmas turnout Saturday afternoon (Dec. 18)
at Jim Rzonca's garage table hockey arena. Fourteen players, including
newcomer Ray Szumal of north suburban Skokie came out for some furious
Stiga table hockey action. The Parkers, dad Rich and son Kevin, were in
the house for the first time this season, as was Jeff Farwell. The big
winner in Week 2 was Jim Rzonca, who went an impressive 12-0-1 to take
first place and get the big 14 points in the LTHL standings. Rzonca
unveiled a new play that caught more than a few guys by surprise, a low
LW tip. Only Ron Marsik could come close, tying Jim. Marsik also went
undefeated, but had four ties. Rob Chargo went 10-1-2, tying Marsik in
points and in their head-to-head matchup. But Chargo won the tiebreaker
based on wins. In his final game against Kevin Parker, Garry Butler
only needed a win to take fourth place. He got a tie, which meant he
had a tiebreaker for fourth place against Farwell. Butler won the game
6-2 to take fourth against good competition, with Farwell taking fifth.
Sixth was Dan Lord and seventh Jeff Thill, who took a final exam at
Purdue University in the morning then hauled a$$ home to make it in
time for opening faceoff. We'll be idle for the holidays and pick up
action in three weeks on Jan. 8.
Three Stars of the night
1. Jim Rzonca...undefeated, adding new tricks
2. Ron Marsik...only one loss this season
3. Garry Butler...played as well as he ever has on Stiga
Newcomer Ray Szumal made his LTHL debut.
